Senior Systems Engineer – Houston, TX

• Hands-on development of FSV Core applications.
• Work closely with technical leadership in development of cost effective, executable delivery and implementation plans.
• Responsible for the communication and effective management of technical deliverables meeting project requirements and company mission and vision.
• Ensure effective communication between software teams, internal/external customers, other company organizations,
  vendors and partners.
• Prepare technical communications materials -- demonstrations, presentations, white papers, diagrams, high-level
  designs, etc., to convey to a non-technical audience how technology will be used to satisfy a market need.
• Participate in the design, development, and support of FSV applications within the FSV Application Enterprise.
• Produce innovative and sustainable solutions by understanding and evaluating FSV's business issues and
  objectives.
• Collaborate with the internal business partners to clarify and refine business requirements and deliver associated
  applications.
• Design intuitive and aesthetically appealing user interfaces that will increase the end user's productivity by providing
  an effective work flow
• Ensure that flexibility, reuse, performance, diagnostic, future feature sets and industry standards are designed into
  application deliverables
• Coordinate application testing activities, as required.
• Leverage the capabilities of external organizations -- other company departments, 3rd party product vendors and technology partners, to achieve technical goals
• Perform third party product evaluations
• Participate in the research, evaluation and integration of new technologies
• Contribute to FSV's process improvement initiatives.
• Partner in a hands-on manner with developers and project teams to ensure the successful delivery of business objectives.
• Develop & continuously improve guidelines, patterns, standards and best practices in the applications realm as necessary.
• Assist in aligning business and IT strategy. Actively seek opportunities to leverage current IT solutions for new business offerings and services. Align IT solutions with business functions to improve flexibility, facilitate large scale reuse, and improve comprehensibility and visibility of ITs value to the business.
• Assess, formulate, and communicate go forward information architecture and technology direction, collaborating with IT development teams and business sponsors.
• Review and approve project deliverables to ensure that they are architecturally sound and achieve as great a degree of fit with the desired architectures as possible.
• Facilitate the availability of relevant technologies and tools to development teams in a timely manner, subject to technology availability.
• Assist in managing the daily activities of the application development teams responsible for the core systems.

• Advanced knowledge of a broad range of systems, platforms, interfaces, protocols, programming languages, network administration tools, servers, etc.
• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 10+ years in IT, application design, development and maintenance
• Strong skill set in C, C++, Solaris, Shell Scripting, Oracle 10G, 11G
• Business problem solving skills
